Election Night BS

239 days of vacation
I call shenanigans.   That's right shenanigans.   How is it that Faux News and their big corporate sponsors can buy an election?   I can tell you that the Koch Brothers have bought and paid for this mid-term election.   It is definitely not on the success of what congress has put forth.   To be able to block and filibuster everything  this sitting POTUS has wanted to put through Boehner and McConnell have stymied and gone on vacation to avoid actually working.   That to me is bullshit.  Granted I am fortunate enough to have an employer  that gives me vacation days but I do not get 239 days.   It would be nice to have that.   The American people have done a disservice to their Nation.   The mantra if ain't broke don't fix it if that is the case then the wheels have fell off the bus and its about to get worse.   Before you start calling me a bleeding heart liberal, or I am what is wrong with America, let me throw out this little nugget  for you.   During the depression FDR put in place drastic measures to save this country from the brink with the New Deal.   These sweeping changes brought forth the regulation on the banks and focused on the American people  putting them to work and bringing an end to the Great Depression.   If we leave to the Republicans to run this government all hell will break loose.   The ACA as we know it according to Mitch McConnell will be "ripped out by the root and branch"   These next two years I call on every Democrat Senator to stall and stymie  Mitch McConnell and his cronyism politics.    To the State of Kentucky I am highly disappointed in you.   You had a chance to shut down the Koch machine but instead like sheep to a wolves den you have been misled and now who will save you?   War on Coal was not started by Obama, it was started by the man who had the office previously, Dick er I mean George W. Bush.   They are both oil men and wanted their people to reap the benefits of less coal fired plants.   My Appalachian brethren need to realize the economics have changed and that has long happened way before this sitting POTUS has taken office.

blogs, vlogs, and more

With the internet being more than the information super highway , it is a meeting place for friends , co-workers, people with same interest.   That is more evident now than ever with social media  like Facebook and Twitter.  What has really taken off is YouTube.   You can find anything on YouTube from how to's to viral reviews.   I know what your thinking why are you doing this Will this has nothing to do with anything , I know that but I have been  watching some of these guys and two YouTubers have really impressed me .  The first is Ray William Johnson.  Ray does a weekly show reviewing viral videos and putting his spin on what he thinks about the video.  Ray has recently struck out on his own to form his own studio and has been quite successful in going it on his own with Equals 3 and a vlog called Runaway Planet with his girlfriend Ana.  Ray is crude but it is not meant for young kids so parents you need to watch your f#$@*ing  kids.

Another YouTuber that got my attention is Corey Vidal and his group over at ApprenticeA and ApprenticeEh.   Yes they are Canadians.   Corey is a huge , and I mean huge Star Wars fan and has done everything from commercials on YouTube, to now making a documentary which you can follow along on the daily vlog about the trip across America.  Corey I feel has done some very innovative stuff and can be corny in a good way.

If you have not seen these guys check them out  on YouTube.  The links are as follows:

For Ray : http://www.youtube.com/user/RayWilliamJohnson
               http://www.youtube.com/user/RunawayPlanet

For Corey: http://www.youtube.com/user/ApprenticeA
                  http://www.youtube.com/user/ApprenticeEh

So like I said check them out and like their videos or........ just sit there like a bump on log.

Have a good one and a better day tomorrow

Wednesday Rambler

Now with the holidays over and football is winding down.   Basketball is cranking up and baseball will be starting soon, and I guess we are going to have hockey after all.   College football crowned their champion with the Alabama Crimson Tide securing the 7th title in a row for the SEC, with a beat down on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.   This leads me to ask is there any other conference in America that is dominating in one sport like the SEC or even come close?  Some may argue the ACC in basketball.  I counter with did the ACC ever win 7 national title in a row, no they have not.  Next year there will be a 4 team playoff to determine the champ next year in college football. Can 'Bama pull it off next year, I think they can cause they are not gonna lose much from this year's team.   Is it possible for the 8th year in a row the champ will come from the SEC?  I think so, cause this conference is a juggernaut in football.    With college football over we are now left with pro football winding down with the playoffs.  Who you got going to the Super Bowl?   The division round of the playoffs are this weekend my hope is we have New England and Green Bay in the the big game, and with Green Bay winning the whole enchilada.   I have always liked Green Bay small market team where the city is the owner of the team, we shall see.

Ever want something to start so bad you start dreaming about it? I have and it is with baseball.  Pitchers and catchers report soon next month and my team the Cincinnati Reds have made some moves to win the division and to make a World Series run.   The Reds are also kicking around what they have to do to lock up Bailey and Latos to long term deals.   I for one would like to see Mat Latos signed to a long term deal, cause the he can pitch.  Granted he is an emotional guy on the mound, once he learns to push past the some bad calls by the umpire behind the plate, he can be the most dominating pitcher on the mound.

I am very excited about this baseball season coming, it is always better when your hometown team does well, unlike the guys down the street .  Even though the Reds blew up in the playoffs and could not win one game at home the Giants just wanted it more.  Can't fault anyone there you just tip your cap and go on.   This year hopefully the top spot in the lineup puzzle has been finally solved and we will see once the table has been set, we can more RBI steaks.

Thats all I have for now make it a great one.

2013 a new year same out come if your a Bengals fan

Bengals lose 19-13 to the Texans
2013 has come in and we are still here unless you thought the Mayans predicted we would be wiped out on 12/21/12.  Then whatever you bet on you were surely wrong.   Which leads me to the Cincinnati Bengals...... if you were heavily invested in the Bengals you got your heart ripped out again by the inefficiencies of the offense and the defense was visibly gassed.   In a well run organization just getting to the playoffs is not a goal , and winning one game is not the goal, the goal is to get to and win the Super Bowl.   Marvin Lewis has been a good coach but he is not the coach to get the Bengals over the hump.  Mike Brown's problem is he does not want to succeed on the football field.   His record as an owner is evident of that.   I know being loyal to one person is a good thing but Mike Brown as an owner should not be satisfied with just making it to the playoffs, he should not be satisfied with just winning the division.  As an owner of a NFL  franchise he should be hungry for a Super Bowl.   Not just be satisfied with making the playoffs, I hate to say it Marvin Lewis should be fired but who in their right mind would work for Mike Brown to get the Bengals over the hump.  Would you replace Lewis with Mike Zimmer?    An interesting question to pose I would think.

I will be honest I have not invested heavily into the Bengals the past two seasons just because the franchise is going no where under Marvin Lewis, they have been to the playoffs, but have lost in the wildcard and as a franchise have not won a playoff game in 20 years, 20 years folks!  That is the longest streak in the NFL just another dubious record the Bengals own.

With football finally winding down and the football relatively done in Cincinnati how would you grade the season for the Bengals?  Me; I give them a D- reason for that was the offense sputtered and they did not win in the playoffs, had they made the Super Bowl possibly a B.

owners and players agree
to end lockout
I am going to switch gears here and turn my attention to some other sport that is usually in full swing but because of a lockout from the owners they have not been playing .   I am talking of course of the NHL.   The third major sports league in North America.  Is it me or did anyone really care or miss hockey.   I for one did not really care its more of a filler sport to be quite honest, people of the north and Canada are hockey nuts though so who know they may have jumped for joy and swilled a keg of beer because of it who knows, eh.

Oh well but if your a sports fan you just like to watch sports for entertainment, for the love of sport and for the camaraderie you have with people who like the same teams.  Whether its friends and family or complete strangers at a bar.  Sports can bring us together, divide us, break our hearts and jump for joy.  Whether your a 4 year old being taken to your first game or 92 and remember the glory days of your team, sports defines us regionally, nationally and with the world.   Pure sport is for our enjoyment, whether it's a Pop Warner game, a rec league at your local Y, a high school game, college or pro, this is what defines us it gives us that carnal release.   Enjoy your day and enjoy sports.

Not to criticize but....

guns should be regulated like this
We as Americans realize there are monsters in our world more so now than ever.   That is more evident now than ever with the event that happened in the sleepy town of Newtown, CT.   When a gunman ( I refuse to mention his name) opened fire on 20 innocent children and 6 adults.  When is the time to debate mental issues and gun control issues.   Do we have to wait for another tragedy to happen?  We as a country cannot accept anymore innocents being killed in cold blood.  The NRA and Republicans want us to believe that more guns are the answer.  I don't agree with that, we need to restrict assault weapon sales and magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, these are not used for hunting, these are killing machines in the hands of the deranged.   Washington needs to ignore the gun lobby and do the right thing by introducing comprehensive gun legislation that will enforce background checks and criminal checks, and do away with gun show sales.   There is too much gun violence in this country, we lead the world in gun violence, that needs to change.

I know most people will disagree with my opinion and that is ok.  I expect that.  I am not saying take away all guns, I am saying take away assault weapons from John Q Public and max capacity magazines.  These should only be available to military and  law enforcement only.

Hunting has always been part of this culture here in America.  I am not calling for a total ban on firearms.   we need a pragmatic approach to gun control.   We need the NRA to be what it is meant to be not an organization that tries to block all kinds of gun control, but be big enough to realize that we need measures in place to keep guns out of the hands of people that want to do harm to our children and innocents and empower law enforcement to get the bad guys.

More guns is not the answer for this debate.   It is far from the right answer.

Mental health  is the red head step child of the health world.   We need to be in discussions now about mental health and what is causing this string of violence.   Mental health is an easy target, but we need to know how these people tick and sets them off and we need to understand what happens.   These people need to be nurtured and know there are people who care about them.   We as a country  need to wrap are arms around this and get to the root of the problem with mental health.

Sports and more

It seems to me that I have not written much about sports here lately , well when you live in an area that does not have a great team to write about you tend to find other things to write about.   I am not big on MMA  or boxing fan.   The Reds are in the off season and have made a couple trades.  The Bengals are so so , I honestly don't invest the time with them.  The Wildcats have been mediocre at best.   So yeah its been kind of a down month sports wise.   Other than that I have been writing about what strikes me as funny.   With that said lets get into some sports stuff for a change.

The Reds have traded Stubbs away to the Cleveland Indians for Choo and other players both ways.  Drew has been mediocre at the plate, he is awesome in the field defensively.   I was talking to to someone the other day and thought the Reds should have sent Drew to an optometrist to see if there was anything wrong with his eyes , to me it seemed like Stubbs just could not pick the ball up out of the pitchers hand.   Who knows.   best of luck to him in Cleveland.   In the deal the Reds get Shin-Soo Choo who is a decent replacement, but not a center fielder he will have to transition to center field.   He is however another lefty bat that can be used at the top of the lineup.  The Reds will only have Choo for one year so hopefully it is win now and hope fore the best.

In other Cincinnati sports news the Bengals played last night that is all.............

Did you think I would snub the Bengals, well you are partly right they also won 34-13 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

What is wrong with the Kentucky Wildcats?  I tell you whats wrong they are not playing as a team, there is no leadership on this team, and lack of rebounding.   Granted they have been playing cupcakes that do not have the athletic prowess of Duke or Maryland.   I know Coach will have them fine tuned come March , but this team will not win a National Championship this year, they are just not that good at the point and on the wings.   They may not even win the SEC this year.   Easy BBN just being realistic not bashing.  If this team does not gel now together and play for each other they will lose against the Cardinals at the end of the year just saying.

Well everyone have a Merry Christmas I will get one more post out before the end of the year. Enjoy some Sinatra while you read until next time.

Christmas lights

You know what I hate more than anything...........putting up Christmas lights on the outside.  I know mundane stuff here.   Think about it though, if you live in a cold climate like I do it suuuuuccccckkkkkssssss!!!!   Moms turn your heads and blind your kids eyes cause I said a bad word .   Never said I was kid friendly here .  I know got side tracked , but honestly who in their right mind would do this stuff in the cold of late fall/early winter.   Not I but I do anyways like a mindless oaf pillaging a village.   Christmas lights are definitely not my favorite thing to put up but they are pretty to look at.

Interestingly enough I do a pretty bang up job putting up the Christmas lights , nothing like Clark W. Griswold in Christmas Vacation.   You know the neighbor that really goes overboard with the lights or the one that is really and I mean really tacky with their light decorations.    I mean you have a nice home but really stink with the Christmas lights.   Makes me laugh all the way down the lane.

So if you have not put up your lights follow these tips, if being elaborate with your lights make sure everything is in sync, if not your light display will be the laughing stock of the neighborhood, if you do chasing lights make sure to post warnings in your yard about epileptic seizures, don't want a neighborhood kid in your yard needing emergency help ( I know this is not a laughing matter).  By all means do not try to out do the guy down the street that has 14 inflatable yard decorations, plastic Santa Clause on the roof and every line of the house lined in in every color imaginable.   Employ the K.I.S.S method of things Keep It Simple Stupid.   If you follow that method your Christmas light display will be simple and elegant and make your home look good, not like the Griswold's down the street.

This is going to be a quick little blurb here today folks.   This is going to be off the wall and you may be wondering where in the hell I am going with this who knows and who really cares right.   Some of my ramblings are somewhat concise and other well somewhat elaborate.   Do you ever wonder if we are really alone in this great vast space.   I for believe there has to be other life sustaining galaxies other than our own.   If we really think that we are alone here then we must really have our heads in the sand.   I know I have never blogged about the unknown, but it has been a topic that have been very interested in, and the multiple conspiracy theories out there keep you guessing.

I have always been intrigued by the mystic of Area 51.  Yes I know our government denies what really goes on there, but why else would a not so top secret air base be in the middle of no where?  Do they really charge $10,000 for a hammer to fund it?   I know quoting a line from my favorite movies "Independence Day".

Do we really know what aliens are and no not illegal aliens from other countries.  Are the small little green men or are they humanoid like us and can pass for a human from earth much like aliens from "Star Trek" and "Star Wars" or are they more like the monsters from the "Predator" or "Alien".   I know some people don't really care or do not really even bother with the unknown.   Much like ghost and goblins and demons.   If it is not seen it is not real.  It is however something to think about.   Well until next time have a good one

'Tis the Season

Deck the halls and all that jazz.  'Tis the season of gift buying and tree trimming, decorating the outside with lights and figurines and the such.  Still others have forgotten the reason for the season.   I know some are going to say I am being a bigot or whatever else but I am proud to say that I am a Christian and that I do say Merry Christmas.   Not Happy Holidays.   Not that I am unaware of the other holidays that fall in December.   For Christians it is the birth of Jesus Christ the Savior born in the town of Bethlehem.  Where the shepherds found the babe dressed in swaddling clothes laying in a manger.   Most Americans have forgotten why, well in my opinion  they simply choose to ignore it.

Christmas time in a America is upon us, another year to reflect on our successes and our failures in life.   To look forward to new chapters in life.   Now a days I feel  like George Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life"   I wonder what it would be like if I were not around, but I think how life would be different if Will were not around and so I keep plugging away at life.   I am very blessed to say the least.

In putting up your Christmas tree look at the face of your children to see how their faces light up when decorating and to hear the excitement in their voices know that soon Saint Nick will be visiting to give gifts to all the good boys and girls.   All that I want for Christmas is a head full of hair but genetics took care of that for me.       But seriously I will continue posting during the season  of joy and laughter.

That is all I have for now , Seasons Greetings and have a blessed month.

UK/Duke and some other thoughts

UK is 1-1 to open the season
Now that the election has died down, and the Republicans are licking their wounds, and there is somewhat a bit of glasnost between the political parties lets get down to the brass tacks about Kentucky basketball.   Yup heard me right Kentucky basketball, the NCAA's winningest basketball program , opened their season last week against Maryland and on this past Tuesday played Duke,  Against Maryland the Cats well played like freshman and pulled out a win.   Then on Tuesday they again played like freshman against Duke and got beat.   Granted UK played well, they did not play well enough to beat Duke.   I know Calipari recruits the b est players he can get , however  this team is not last years' team.  This team I do not think has the NBA quality players of last year this point and time.   There is a lot of work to be done rebounding and staying home on defense.  When both bigs are in the game they should not be going after the block at the same time.   When they do they leave the glass wide open for offensive put backs.   I know I am being critical of them but I would rather lose now than in March.

Now with basketball in full swing we want to welcome to the ranks of D1 basketball Northern Kentucky University Norse opened against San Diego , unfortunately they lost but here is to success to the Norse from NKU.

Is Eli an elite QB?  Granted he lost to the Bengals last Sunday, but you have to give the Bengals credit they played great to keep the GMen 0 for their last 6 in Cincy.   My opinion may differ from my fellow Morehead State University alum Phil Simms.   On CBS sports network Simms does not think that Eli is an elite enough quarterback in the NFL.   When I think of elite quarterbacks these men do come to mind, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Joe Namath, Terry Bradshaw, Tom Brady, and the Manning brothers.    Eli is up there, so I have to respectfully disagree with you Phil.

That is all I have for now music pick of blog is going to be ........

Have a good one folks
